Sierra Readymix receives Productivity, Cleaner Production Awards :

First Sri Lankan readymix concrete industry

It is indeed recognition for Sierra Readymix (Pvt.) Ltd (SRL) to be the first ready-mix concrete plant to adopt Cleaner Production, Productivity Improvement and Green Production concepts and became the first company in the ready-mix concrete industry to receive the Productivity and Cleaner Production Awards at the same time.

Sierra Ready-mix (Pvt.) Ltd. (SRL) was initiated as a brainchild of the Chairman of Sierra Construction Nimal Lokuge on 15th October 2005, where the Director/General Manager of SRL - Lal Weerasinghe, provided an inspirational leadership in building up the company from scratch to the best company in the ready-mix concrete industry.

Another privileged achievement of Sierra Readymix (Pvt.) Ltd was being selected as a model plant in the ready-mix industry by Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) in the ?Enhancing Environmental Performance in Sri Lankan Export Sectors? (EEPEx) Project, whilst considering the environmental friendly perspectives which it maintains in comparison to the peer industries.

At present, many industries and companies run at a rate in increasing the bottom line at any cost, which results in detrimental impact on the environment whilst disowning the right to live of the future generation.

Hence SRL is in an upstream voyage in ensuring that the operations of the company do not or minimize the impact on the environment. SRL constantly acts as a trendsetter in green initiatives and has become a guiding factor among other Sierra Group of Companies including the other industries at the Templeburge Industrial Zone as well as other companies in the ready-mix concrete industry.

Sierra Ready-mix (Pvt.) Ltd is professional suppliers of Readymix Concrete having plants in Homagama, Ampara, Maha Oya, Hambanthota and Anuradhapura.

They have supplied concrete to high end engineering projects such as the Southern Highway Project, the Outer Circular Highway Project, the British High Commission New Premises, the Oluvil Harbour Development Project, Maha Oya Spillway Project etc.

They have diversified into concrete pre-cast products and interlocking paving, maintaining the highest standards in the Sri Lankan construction industry.

The company is strategically forward integrated in to erection of domestic concrete structures with all formwork by Sierra Readymix (Pvt.) Ltd.

The company is expecting to launch full construction of housing units with the request of the domestic client segments they are catering to. Sierra Ready-mix (Pvt) Ltd is having one of the environmental friendly Readymix concrete plants in Sri Lanka.

An ISO 9001:2008 system certified company, they have won Excellence awards for both Materials Efficiency and Water Efficiency in the Cleaner Production Awards and National Productivity Awards and presently in the process of achieving ISO 14000 Certification as well.
