Suu Kyi party launches Myanmar political comeback

Democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi’s opposition took
its first step towards a return to mainstream Myanmar politics
Friday, days before a historic visit by US Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton. The National League for Democracy (NLD) applied to
officially re-register as a political party — after boycotting last
year’s much-criticised parliamentary election — amid signs of reform
in a country long dominated by the military.

University study out November 22, researchers found that pre-teen
girls may not be any better at friendships than boys, despite

Hope for muscle wasting disease

A health supplement used by bodybuilders could
be the key to treating a life-threatening muscular dystrophy
affecting hundreds of Australian children, new research shows. The
amino acid L-tyrosine had a “rapid and dramatic impact” on Nemaline
Myopathy (NM) in laboratory tests on mice, significantly improving
symptoms of the muscle wasting disease, medical researchers from the
University of New South Wales (UNSW) found.
