Nations, like men, have their own destiny

The hand that rocks the cradle rules the nation and its destiny.

A people as an organised body politic, usually associated with a particular territory and possessing a distinctive cultural and social way of life, constitute a nation. Nations, like individuals, have or ought to have their own ideals and work towards realising those criteria. Nations, as like persons, can also depart from their sacred purpose.

They can either fulfil the purpose of their existence; or misrepresent the ideals that they have come into being to fulfil.

Policies

Hence, whether there is more on the side of right, as expressed through that nation’s policies and actions; or more on the side of wrong and self-seeking, which takes a nation out of the global harmonic and more into its own sphere of self-interest; is a choice that individual governments, peoples, and societies make over time.

Therefore, since the existence of a nation, as a nation, is dependant upon its actions; nations, like men or for that matter the entirety of life, have their own destiny.

The entire global harmonic and vibration of the earth is composed, in part, of the individual vibrations of national entities whose purposes, when held in light, contribute to the overall well-being of our planet.

The earth’s planetary body is comprised of the physical aspects of matter, of which she is composed of; and the heterogeneous nature of the many life forms that she contains.

It also has to do with the collective awareness of its peoples that makes up the whole of the earth’s consciousness.

This collective consciousness contains both individual people and individual nations. Today; if the world is in turmoil, it is because – to some extent – humanity has lost the object of its being.

We Sri Lankans are a nation that believes in, and relies on, the influence of the heavenly bodies upon the destinies of men. Whatever our religious beliefs, and despite our religion, we tend to have greater faith in astrology than in ourselves. Nothing of any importance in our life, excepting the trivialities of daily grind; is ever commenced or done without first consulting the one who studies and interprets the application of astronomy to human uses.

Interpreters

We rely on, and trust these interpreters of the heavenly and earthly bodies to mould our life, and to bring us solace.

Then why do we not consult an astrologer when we go to cast our vote. Does not the fate of a nation affect its people; or do we believe that a country and its people have different destinies? If not, are we just a nation of selfish people who are preoccupied with just our affairs and contend to let hell take our brethren? I suppose it is a combination of factors.

If greed and ignorance is our legacy; then it is nothing surprising that we remain where we are, even if the stars favour us.

In any nation, when the majority of the peoples in that country are lacking decision of character or steadfastness; when they are selfishly motivated; when they crave and greed for the crumbs of offal that is thrown their way as sustenance; when such a majority is steeped in ignorance and stupidity; when they are nothing but egotist; when they are mere creatures that only feed, sleep, and replicate; then the destiny of such people and the destiny of such country, is destined towards downfall.

As such, if a nation does not prosper as expected; if it lags behind the rest of the world; if it is not in harmony with other nations; the fault is not in its stars, but in its people. More than the stars, it is the collective consciousness of its people that determines the destiny.

We are in year 2011. In terms of astrology, we are currently transitioning into the 11th house of the zodiac—the age of the Aquarius. Progressive and intuitive, the sign rules technology, humanitarianism, philanthropy, non-conformity, and idealism.

Predictions

According to astrological predictions, a wealth of new information will dominate the coming months.

If this is true, then what a great time it is to be alive, these are very exciting times we live in and the consciousness shift is palpable.

In numerology, each number holds a unique vibration with associated traits attached to it. One and two symbolise masculine and feminine energy, respectively, with one deemed as “the creator.” When repeated, one becomes 11.

This is a Master Number, representing rebirth and, you guessed it, new beginnings. Therefore, the signs from the heavens are favourable.

As we race towards the end of the year, let us make a resolve to begin anew; to create a new destiny. Let us let past be past, and forge our destiny to a future full of hope. The politicians will not do it for you.

Biggest

They are for them alone, and are the biggest forgers. You, the people of this country will have to do it. While doing so, let us remember that our country owes us nothing. It gave us, as it gives every boy and girl, a chance.

It gave us schooling, independence of action, opportunity for service and honour. In no other land could a boy from a country village, without inheritance or influential friends, look forward with unbounded hope. Let us think: my country is the world; my countrymen are mankind.

See you this day next week. Until then, keep thinking; keep laughing. Life is mostly about these two activities.
