Magic and One Trust Sri Lanka partners

Magic, Sri Lanka's No 1 dairy ice cream brand together with One Trust Sri Lanka, the philanthropic arm of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC (member of CT Holdings Group), have come forward to support the Children's Programme of the internationally acclaimed HSBC Galle Literary Festival. In addition to the main Children's Programme, the Festival will include a community outreach aspect in Northern and Southern Sri Lanka. Geoffrey Dobbs - Festival Founder and Imtiaz Abdul Wahid, Managing Director, Cargills sign the agreement for the sponsor recently.

Pilgrimages to the East



One of the exhibits

Pilgrimages to the East, an exhibition of photographs of Tagore's travels to South East Asia, China and Sri Lanka, will be held from December 2 -8 from 11 a.m. to 7.p.m. at J.D.A Perera Gallery, 46 Horton Place, Colombo 7. The exhibition is organised by the Indian Cultural Centre in Colombo.

This photography exhibition is divided into three sections: The first is Rabindranath's tour of Southeast Asia [which includes Burma, Singapore, Malaya, Java, Bali, Siam, as well as French Indo-China (now Vietnam)]. The second section covers his trip to China in 1924; and third section is about his three trips to Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) in 1922, 1928 and 1934. The curator for the exhibition is Supriya Roy.


Artist Rabindranath Tagore

Artist Rabindranath Tagore (An Exhibition of Digital Copies of Tagore Paintings), will be held from December 3-8 at J.D.A Perera Gallery, 46 Horton Place Colombo7. The exhibition is organised by the Indian Cultural Centre in Colombo.


Piyaba Yanawa Maa

Piyamba Yanawa Maa , the first audio Album by Evoke International (Pvt) Ltd was launched recently at Bishop College Auditorium.

The stars of Superstar reality TV shows have performed songs of the late musician/Singer Clarence Wijewardena at the concert as a tribute to the great musician.

Sanka Dineth, Buddhika Ushan, Ajith Bandara, Nilupuli Dilhara, Milan Suresh, Udayanga Suresh, Roshen, Chathura, Eranda, Dulaj, Ruman Asitha, Priyankara Perera, Priya Sooriyasena, Saman De Silva, Isuru Jayaratne sang at the concert. Music was by Sarath De Alwis.


Dance classes

Dr. Anil Mihiripenna's, Mihiripenna Kala Academy will recruit students to follow dance classes for GCE O/L and A/L. Students joining on December 3 and 4 will be entitled to semi-scholarships, a press release issued by the academy said.
