Kingswood wins T.B. Jayah Memorial Contest for boxing

Best Boxer of the Meet G. Gunatunge of Dharmaraja College,
Kandy.

BOXING: Kingswood College, Kandy with 24 points won the T.B. Jayah
Memorial Boxing Contest for Schools, while St. Sylvester’s College,
Kandy were runners-up with 17 points and Sri Sumangala, Panadura were
placed third also with 17 points. The second and third teams scored the
identical points, but St.
Sylvester’s were awarded second place on the number of medals
received.
The Best Boxer at the meet was G. Gunatunge of Dharmaraja College,
Kandy and the Best Loser was M. Pushpakumara of Vidyartha College,
Kandy.
There were 216 boxers from 56 schools all over the island who
participated at the meet.

UNDER 15: 35 Kgs:
T. Jinadasa (Mayurapola, Mawanella) beat M. Pushpa Kumara (Vidyartha,
Kandy).
37 Kgs: M. Subasinghe (Pannala MMV) beat A. Bandara (Kingswood, Kandy).
39 Kgs. W. Duinsara (Dharmapala, Pannipitiya) beat M. Misro (Carey
Kandy).
41 Kgs: B. Bandara (St.Sylvester’s Kandy) beat R.Perera (Pilimatalawa,
Kandy).
43 Kgs: M. Madhushan (Vidyarathana, Horana) beat R. Chandu (St.
Sylvester’s Kandy).
45 Kgs: S. Pitiyegedera (Vidyarathana, Horana) beat K. Karunasinghe of
Peradeniya MMV).
