Indian businessmen keen to invest in Sri Lanka - Anand Dikshit
by Jayampathy JAYASINGHE
Indian businessmen are eager to invest in emerging markets such as
Sri Lanka to boost trade and maximise profits.
Director and Partner of PriceWaterhouseCoopers India Anand Dikshit
addressing a business forum last week said it was essential to recognise
the 'business' approach of Indian businessmen to investment. Over the
years, Indian businessmen have become professionals and are now looking
at emerging economies such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Brazil and Africa.
The business forum was organised by the Sri Lanka Foundation and the
Strategic Enterprise Management Agency in collaboration with
PriceWaterhouse Coopers, India on "Indian Business Approach and Way
Forward for Sri Lanka."
Dikshit said that India was not part of the global financial meltdown
that occurred in 2008, despite ups and downs in the economy.
It was only in the 1990s that India seriously looked for to take the
country to the next level by increasing foreign reserves.
Looking at Sri Lanka from outside the Sri Lankan macro economic
indicators are fantastic.
Indian businessmen are gradually moving away from developed countries
to emerging markets in the South East Asia.
The Indian businessmen were not looking at acquisition of local
business but looking at forming partnership with local businesses.
Director and Partner of PriceWaterhouseCoopers India, Manish B.
Agrawal and Chairman Sri Lanka Foundation Director Strategic Underprice
Management Agency, Professor Ranjith Bandara also spoke.
