Crucial blow to Sri Lanka ahead of First Test:
Nuwan Pradeep suffers hamstring injury
Sri Lanka suffered a crucial blow at the very
first outing of their six-week tour of South Africa when newly-found
fast medium bowler Nuwan Pradeep was ruled out due to a hamstring
injury yesterday. Twenty-five-year-old Pradeep was ruled out from
further action in Sri Lanka’s three-day tour opener against South
African Invitation XI in Benoni yesterday.

South African X1 make 323/6
BENONI, Dec. 10 - South African Invitation XI,
electing to bat first, made 323 for 6 at stumps in their first
innings on day two of their three-day match against Sri Lanka at
Willowmoore Park here today. Sri Lanka's tour opener got off this
morning after the entire first day's play on Friday was washed off
by rain. At least 17 overs of play was lost in the final session
today as bad light brought a premature end.

Panesar gets England recall
England recalled spinner Monty Panesar when they
named a 16-man squad on Friday for their upcoming Test series
against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. The series, being
played in the UAE because of ongoing security concerns in Pakistan,
will be England’s first since they went to number one in the world
Test rankings during a 4-0 home thrashing of India earlier this
year.
