SHOOTING: Kasun Karunaratne of Negombo Rifle Club became the Junior
National Champion in the 10m Air Rifle event at the National
Championships 2011 organized by the National Shooting Sports Federation
of Sri Lanka on November 28.
Kasun Karunaratne, representing the Negombo Rifle Club scored 563
points out of 600 in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the National
Championships 2011 held at the Navy Shooting Range, Welisara to become
the Junior National Champion.
With this achievement, Kasun was recommended by the National Rifle
Association of Sri Lanka for a sponsorship of Hammerli AR20 Air Rifle
from the Veritas Technologies to further improve his skills in this
field. Kasun Karunaratne, is a student of Royal College and a son of
distinguished military personality and former military spokesman Major
General (Retd) Sanath Karunaratne. The award ceremony was held on
December 4, with Udaya R. Senaviratne, Secretary to the Ministry of
Sports as the chief guest.
