Repairs to 40-year oil pipeline under way

Repairs to the 40-year-old oil pipeline from the Colombo Port to the Kolonnawa Petroleum Storage have commenced, said Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha. The oil pump line was laid on railway land occupied by over 410 families.

Alternative land has to be found to relocate these families in consultation with the Urban Development Authority to complete the repairs, he said.

Referring to media reports, the Minister said that the alleged leaks spotlighted were not from the Petroleum Corporation pipelines.
