Security for Sri Pada pilgrims

With the Sri Pada season commencing on Friday policemen from Hatton, Avissawella and Ratnapura have been deployed along the route to Sri Pada to provide security to the large number of devotees who visit the sacred site, Police Media Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana told the Sunday Observer.

He said special traffic arrangements have been drawn up for the smooth flow of vehicles and to park vehicles during the Sri Pada season.

Motorists have been warned against driving vehicles under influence of liquor while devotees who visit the shrine and other areas have been told not to discard empty plastic bottles and litter the place.
