A woman who had earlier made a false complaint to the Kandy police
station that her body parts were removed by two doctors after they
abducted her to Ambepussa pleaded guilty to making a false complaint
before the Kandy Magistrate who sentenced her to six months rigorous
imprisonment suspended for 25 years, Police Media Spokesman SP Ajith
Rohana told the Sunday Observer.
According to police, the woman (40) from Dambulla had been visiting
the Kandy hospital to seek treatment for cancer for some time. She
complained to Kandy police that two doctors had promised to take her to
India for further treatment free of charge.
Thereafter they took her to a place at Ampebussa where she was given
a packet of milk to drink. She told police that she fainted after
consuming milk and the doctors thereafter removed her body parts.
She later escaped from the house with the help of others and arrived
in Colombo by train.
The Kandy police who inquired into the case found that the woman had
gone to Polonnaruwa with another man and checked into a guest house.
The Polonnaruwa police arrested the couple on suspicion while they
were about to check out of the guest house.
They produced the couple in court and they were remanded for 14 days.
The woman later told the Kandy police that she made a false complaint to
deceive her husband who had inquired about her sudden disappearance for
two weeks.
