Christmas brings joy to everyone

Christmas season is a joyous time for everyone. Relatives and friends take the opportunity to visit each other and exchange gifts and good will. It is also a time to do shopping and house refurbishing. All this is good and acceptable.But we sometimes fail to realise that there is a deeper meaning for Christmas.

The real reason for Christmas is, the birth of the Son of God who existed from the beginning, who loved us enough to leave his glory in heaven and come to earth putting on himself human flesh, to willingly die on the cross for the human race, so that we could have an eternal future in heaven.Christmas is the celebration and adoration of Jesus Christ who came to die for my sins and yours. Therefore, there is no Christmas without Jesus, and celebrating it becomes meaningless when one does not know who Jesus Christ is and the work he did.

What was the work of Jesus:- The result of man's sin is eternal death (To suffer eternally in hell). Man had no choice but to pay for his sins by suffering eternally in hell.

But God loved us so much that he sent Jesus Christ (His only son) to pay for our sins on the cross(a debt that we could never pay). Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross bearing the punishment of our sins( the sin we had to be punished for).

The whole world now, could celebrate Christmas in all its splendour because Jesus came to this world, died for our sins, was buried and rose again from the dead.

What must we do to make Christmas meaningful? When we come to Jesus Christ and repent from our sin, asking Jesus to forgive us, we will have our sins forgiven. Thereafter, we must believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead.

We must confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour. Then Jesus Christ will give us eternal life instead of eternal death.Christmas will be meaningful to the person who does this; because he knows his eternal destiny is in heaven.

Christmas gave mankind who was forever doomed, a hope of eternal life and happiness, through Jesus Christ. Holy Scripture Reading (John 3. 16):- God loved us so much, that He gave us his only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. So that whosoever believes in Jesus will not perish in hell, but will have eternal life in heaven.
