New HSBC management appointments in Sri Lanka
HSBC has appointed Kanchana G Hewavitharana Chief Financial Officer
for HSBC Sri Lanka and the Maldives and Michael J F Hung Chief Risk
Officer for HSBC Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Kanchana and Michael arrived in the country from overseas postings in
HSBC Hong Kong and Vietnam.
Kanchana who succeeds Fadhil Jiffry, began his career at HSBC in
2004, as a Management Accountant. Three years later he was appointed a
Consultant for HSBC in Vietnam. Following his overseas attachment,
Kanchana joined HSBC’s regional office in Hong Kong and covered various
roles in Finance.
Prior to taking up his current position, Kanchana served as Senior
Asset and Liability and Capital Management Manager at HSBC’s regional
office in Hong Kong, where he managed liquidity, funding risk and
capital for the main regional sites including Hong Kong and India.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from the
University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He is also an Associate
Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
Michael succeeds Dimantha N Seneviratne, who took up an overseas
posting as Chief Risk Officer for HSBC in Thailand.
He joined HSBC as an International Manager in 1996 and has held
various senior management roles in Personal Financial Services, Custody
and Clearing, Credit Risk Management and Global Banking in Hong Kong,
Indonesia, Taiwan, the US and UK. Prior to taking up his current
position, Michael was Head of HSBC’s GlobalBanking Business in Vietnam.
