The first of two Test matches between Sri Lanka
and England beginning at the Galle International Stadium on Monday
will be played on a result-oriented wicket. A glimpse at the wicket
shows that curator Jayananda Warnaweera has done a lot of work on
the strip, and got into top condition, where the team playing the
more aggressive and disciplined cricket will finally emerge
victorious.

ICC chief confident of corruption free Twenty20 World Cup
The ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat expressed
his confidence of a corruption free Twenty20 World Cup which will
take place from September 18 to October 7, 2012 in Sri Lanka. Logart
said that “all of the protocols and procedures that we engage when
it comes to a global event from the anti-corruption point of you
will be there, we are very, very stringent and will not take
anything lightly so all the procedures and process that we have so
far the ICC is concern will be placed at the competition.”

Maurice Coomaravel and Trevor de Silva put Sri Lanka’s cycling
on map
Talk of cycling, I mean competition cycling in
the past, two names that come to mind in a flash are those of
Maurice Coomaravel and Trevor de Silva who stood the test of time to
put Sri Lanka on the top rung. In 2008, the Sri Lanka government
awarded National Sporting Honours to Sportsmen and Women who had
brought credit to the country in the highest international sporting
arena. Just two cyclists were included in this prestigious list
(which also contained World Cup winning Cricket Team, our Olympic
medalits etc). Their names are also in the unique sporting book: Sri
