OMVSC triumph by 10 wickets

Suminda Manjula with a match bag of 14 for 57 enabled Old Moratu Vidyalians Sports Club to beat Kelaniya Sports Club by ten wickets in their inter club division two cricket tournament match Cricket played at Moratuwa for Donevan Andree Trophy.

Batting first OMVSC scored 172 runs with Avishka Peiris 50 and Lahiru Sandaruwan claiming 4 for 37 and in reply Kelaniya sports club were skittled out for 43 runs and following on for 132 and the match ending on day one.

OMVSC: 172 (Avishka Peiris 50, Milinda Sepala 24, Lasitha Mendis 26, Lakmal Gomes 34, Lahiru Sandaruwan 4/37, Thushantha Kumar 2/32, Mahesh Priyadarshana 2/26). and 4 for no loss.

KELANIYA S.C.: 43 (Suminda Manjula 6/13, Lasitha Mendis 2/8, Chatura Vithane 2/2 and 132 - Amila Perera 23, Mahesh Priyadarshana 57, Suminda Manjula 8/44).


Devans win by 80 runs

Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala beat St. Annes' College by 80 runs in their 19th Battle of the Rocks annual limited overs cricket encounter for Janaka Bogallagama Memorial Challenge Trophy, played at Welegedera Stadium yesterday.

Devens met Annites after three years and it was a thrilling event for the cricket fans in Kurunegala. This match showed the real brotherhood among two schools. Maliyadeva won the toss and batted first.

MALIYADEVA: 230 all out (Nimna Karunarathne 45, Kushan Wijerathne 43, Udesh Hathurusinghe 4 for 28).

St. ANNES: 150 all out (S. Cooray 48, Malshan 20, Hashan Gunathilake 3 for 17).

Mrs. Sunethra Bogollagama Director of Bogollagama Company gave away the awards.

The old boys (past cricketers of both schools will meet today for the limited overs game for the 1st time in the school history at the same venue.


OMVSC notch up their fourth win

Old Moratu Vidyalian Sports Club registered their fourth successive win when they beat Matara Sports Club in their inter-club division two cricket match by 95 runs on first innings organised by SLC and played for the Donovan Andree Trophy over the last week-end at Moratuwa.

Batting first OMVSC scored 221 with Kalhara Peiris making the top score of 65 runs while Ruchira Uyanhewa claimed 4 for 72. In reply visitors were bowled out for 126 and in their second essay homesters declared at 137 for 7 and when the stumps were drawn Matara Sports club were 66 for 2 with P.M. Ekanayake unbeaten on 60 runs.

OMVSC: 221 (Chaminda Nirosha 28, Avishka Peiris 27, Nihal Dimbukkuwalage 49, Kalhara Peiris 65, Damesh Silva 26 n/o, Ruchira Uyanhewa 4/72, Crishan Santhusha 3/16 and 137/7 dec. Milinda Sepala 32, Kalhara Peiris 21, Damesh Silva 25 n/o, Niroshan Sriyarathne 22 n/o, Crishan Santhusha 3/31).
