Skzin and Bones

'Skzin and Bones', an exhibition of paintings by Dr.Milinda Salpitikorala, with his latest work including the designs for his T shirt line at the Lionel Wendt, and is opened today.

Dr. Milinda Salpitikorala is a medical professional and a part time artist, who, after years of toying with the idea, finally decided to host an art exhibition displaying his artwork. He's an artist who not only dabbles with traditional tools but is also a digital artist, inspired by mythology and the insight his training as a doctor has given him.

Apart from displaying his art, he will also give space for upcoming artists to showcase their talent too.


Mihitalavata Samidu Vadamakirima

An exhibition of painting entitled Mihitalavata Samidu Vadamakirima by Wasantha Namaskara will be held at James International Meditation Centre in Ampitiya, Kandy on June 4.


Dangaya and Punchi Andare

Two children's plays Dangaya and Punchi Andare by Yashodhara Sarachchandra and Kusumsiri Liyanaarachchi go on the boards at the Lumbini theatre on June 2.


Balloth ekka be

Balloth ekka be , a comedy by Ravindra Ariyarathne will be staged on June 3 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. at Lumbini Theatre.


Fête de la Musique

Alliance Française de Colombo, the premier French language and cultural centre in Sri Lanka since 1955, is once again organising Fête de La Musique’ (International Music Day) on Saturday June 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at their air conditioned auditorium at No. 11, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.

The unique musical event has a long and colourful history, beginning in France on June 21, 1982. Today the celebration of music is held all over the world and every year professional and amateur musicians alike take to the streets and parks on the day to celebrate the arrival of Summer after a dismal Spring.

It is free of charge and thousands of people flock to the parks and streets to witness performers embracing all kinds of music from jazz to hip-hop and nothing is out of place.

Here in Sri Lanka, this is your chance to expose your hidden musical talents.

It is for everyone amateurs, professionals (no age limit - children as well as adults), and you can sing in any language of your choice. Individuals, school bands, schools music clubs, interact clubs, music groups, ballet schools / groups, dancing schools, music associations can participate.

Organisers Alliance Française de Colombo will provide the hall, sound systems and also background music by Annesley Malewana and Super Chimes free or the participants can play their own musical instruments or have their own music or group.

Nari Burathi, a comedy by Sarath Kothalawala goes on the boards. at Towerhall Theatre on June 2 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.
