Heavy showers, strong winds forecast

The Galle and Matara districts, the Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces will experience heavy showers with the onset of the South West Monsoon.

There will be heavy wind velocity during the rainy season.

The Meteorology Department forecasts that these areas will experience heavy showers accompanied by thunder showers from time to time. The wind velocity will also be high.

Heavy rains will be experienced in most parts of the country with thunder showers in the evenings or nights, according to Meteorologist A. Sooriyakumaran.

A wind velocity of 60-70 km per hour is expected in the South West deep seas and Mannar Bay.
