Fire breaks out at SJU
A fire has been broken out at the chemical storeroom of the Sri
Jayewardenepura University causing damages to laboratory equipment. The
fire has broken out following the explosions of two Sodium cylinders. No
casualties were reported.
University sources said that the fire brigade was able to bring the
fire under control.
Elderly gent reported missing
Seventy-five-year old P.D.D. Perera, of 120/1, New Padeniya Road,
Dambulla is missing from his residence since January 14 and his
whereabouts are not known, according to his daughter P.H.D.R. Sandamali,
residing at 46, Maradagahawatte Road, Katana who has made a complaint to
police.
The description: 5 feet 4 inches, Fair complexion, hair cut
short and the dress worn on the last day not known.

YMCA speech contest
The Colombo Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) speech contest
based on Sir Edwin Arnold's 'The Light of the World' will be held on
July 7 (semi-finals) and July 14 (finals). The contest is open to
students below the age of 18.
Entries close on June 15. Entry forms can be obtained from the Youth
Department of the Colombo YMCA, Colombo 1.
Workshop on 'Bhagavad Gita'
The Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Samithi has organised a special
workshop-style spiritual discussion (Sath Sung) on 'Bhagavad Gita' at
the Sai Mandhir, Barnes Place on June 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The workshop will be conducted by Brother Badri Srinivasan, an Indian
national who is domiciled in Australia. He is an ardent devotee of
Sathya Sai Baba and was also a MBA student from one of the Universities
set up by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttapaththi in Andhra
Pradesh, India.
