Kidney wanted
T. Sivakumaran (37) is suffering from end stage renal failure and
specialists at the Nephrology and Transplant Unit of the National
Hospital have recommended a live kidney transplant as an urgent measure.
His blood group is B Positive and is in need of a kidney from a person
whose blood group is 'B' or 'O'. Kind donors willing to donate a kidney

Int'l award for State Engineering Corp
The Sri Lanka State Engineering Corporation has been awarded the
International Star for Leadership in Quality by the Spain-based Business
Initiative Direction (BID)
The awards ceremony will be held on June 24 and 25 in Paris. Over 74
countries will participate in the ceremony.
The BID was set up in Spain in 1973 by Jos Priyoto who introduced the
QC 100 concept in quality control.
The Engineering Corporation was selected for the award due to its

Seminar on 'Tourism'
The next in the series of 'Pravanatha' Seminars being jointly held by
the Department of Government Information and the Sri Lanka Foundation
Institute, (SLFI) will be held under the theme 'Sri Lanka Tourism
Development: Prospects and Challenges' on Tuesday at the SLFI from 3.30
p.m. to 5.30 p.m.Senior Lecturer of the Department of Economics of the
University of Colombo Dr. Suranga Silva will deliver a lecture on
'Tourism industry's contribution and challenges for Sri Lanka's
socio-economic development' while Director General of the Sri Lanka
Tourist Board Vipula Wanigasekara will speak on 'Strategies for the
development of the tourist industry'.The seminar is open for the public.
Training session for teachers
A one-day seminar for Bambalapitiya Muslim Ladies College teachers
under the theme 'Paradigm shift in teachers' will be held at Hotel
Ramada from 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. today, chaired by College Principal
Dr. Hajarjahan Mansoor. The seminar will be opened by Western Province
Education Director N. Ahilapperuma.
