Nature and wildlife in pictures

‘A Celebration Thru’ Light', the maiden effort by a group of people from all walks of life will be held at the Memorial Art Centre of Lionel Wendt, Guildford Crescent, Colombo 7, on June 17 from 9.00 a.m. - 7.30 p.m.

The photographs will contain pursuits covering nature/wild life, portrait, landscapes and open categories. “Our group consisting of professionals in medicine, engineering, law, IT, finance, banking, architecture, HR, education, along-with servicemen, housewives and students, are in pursuit of photography as a hobby, a profession or as a pleasing distraction that helps bring about a life balance to an otherwise stressful life”, said the Secretary of the Exhibition Committee Dr. Vickum Senanayake. President – Exhibition Committee Priyanke Perera said the photographs to be exhibited have been considered best in their respective class, having been selected by an elite panel of five professional judges, out of 470 photographs submitted by the group.

The organising committee has also added flavour and competitiveness to the process by having the judges pick winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category, while recognising the potential with the award of certificates of merit.
