SriLankan ties up with Oneworld

SriLankan Airlines would have additional opportunities to generate revenue with the airlines teaming up with the Oneworld airline group which is among the top three airline alliances in the world.

Speaking after signing the agreement in China during the 68th International Air Transport Association annual general meeting in Beijing, Chairman SriLankan Airlines, Nishantha Wickramsinghe said that SriLankan will from an alliance next year flying alongside some of the biggest and best brands in the airline business. Cathay Pacific serves as its sponsor in joining Oneworld, supporting the airline through its alliance implementation program.

The chairman said that passengers could now buy tickets to off line destinations of SriLankan Airlines and also vice versa.

“SriLankan has high connectivity to India and the Maldives and passengers outside Sri Lanka would have better access flying on SriLankan giving the airline more revenue.”
