Used plastic items to be recycled

Go Green Lanka Recyclers, whose main production facility is to be in Kalutara, will collect, clean and recycle plastic yoghurt cups, plastic drinking cups, plastic bowls and other plastic products made out of High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS). A reasonable price will be offered for those that are collected assuring collectors of an income.

Initially, the collection would be made from the Western Province and from certain selected Garbage Processing Centres. The entire island would be covered at the second stage of the project.

A press release states "These plastic items are responsible for blocking drains, waterways and even rivers.

These items if not properly disposed will contribute to the spread of epidemics such as Dengue".
