Sri Lanka-Indonesia BC AGM
The Sri Lanka- Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) which functions
under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its Annual
General Meeting recently.
Charge d' Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in Sri Lanka, Albert
Abdi, was the chief guest. Abdi congratulated the Council for its
19-year partnership to promote trade and investment between the two
countries. He said " The challenge of achieving $1b bi-lateral trade by
2015 could be achieved through the cooperation of the business community
of Sri Lanka and Indonesia".
Director and General Manager of ISIN Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Jatinder Biala,
was re-elected President for 2012-2013. Biala said that Indonesia has
become a promising country, not only in Asia but in the world. Although
the expected growth rate in fast developing, Asian giants, China and
India are lower than expected. Indonesia has managed to maintain the
expected growth. Indonesia is a large country with vast untapped natural
resources. Sri Lanka and Indonesia share similarities in culture and
climatic conditions. Biala said that the Council's objective is to
promote trade, services and business between Sri Lanka and Indonesia,
particularly exports.
