Interpharm wins award

Interpharm (Pvt) Limited, manufacturer of pharmaceutical products
formulated in Sri Lanka, received a special award - Local Manufacturer
of the Year for 2011, at the 15th Suppliers' Convention, held recently.
It was organised by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
The Certificate of Excellence was awarded to Interpharm in
recognition of the quality of pharmaceuticals supplied to the State and
the private sector through the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation, on
time.
Interpharm, a subsidiary of Gamma Pharmaceuticals, was incorporated
in 1990, and began supplying generic drugs to the State and private
sectors in 1995, having complied with all regulatory processes. Since
then the company has been a regular supplier to the State, expanding its
operations in the private sector.
On receiving the Award, Chairman and Managing Director of Interpharm,
Kalana Hewamallika said, "Interpharm is a 100 percent Sri Lankan owned
pharmaceutical manufacturing company. We are happy to receive this award
and certificate from the SPC, as it is consistent with our vision of
'Seeking Excellence in contributing towards quality health care for all'
and our value on quality. In our industry we deal with the lives of
people. So it is vital to maintain focus on the quality of the drugs we
manufacture and we ensure people get the best products under the
Interpharm label.
We are thankful to the Government and our stakeholders for the
support they have extended to us to save foreign exchange and contribute
to the economic development of the country.
I hope this Government will continue to assist all local
pharmaceutical manufacturers for the development of the industry. The
concerted effort of our staff contributed to the achievement of this
commendable award."
