Turning pets into exotic wildlife
You may be aware that most pet owners abroad pamper their pets much
more than we do here in Sri Lanka. There are even special hotels,
restaurants ,grooming parlours and day care centres for them in many
countries.Pets are treated with plenty of love and respect . However, in
some instances pet lovers do go overboard and do some things many are
likely to consider a bit crazy. For instance, there was a craze in China
to dye their pets to look like some exotic wildlife creature recently.
Many Chinese are always quick to embrace new trends, even bizarre
ones , and it is not unusual for owners to take their dogs to grooming
parlours where they are not only given a shampoo and trim, but also a
multi-coloured dye job. And many furry friends that walk into these
special grroming parlours for animals come out with different
identities, at least in the exterior.Recent figures show money spent on
pets across the nation has seen nearly a 500 per cent increase between
1999 and 2008 - but, arguably, at the cost of their pets’ dignity.
Quite what the animals might think about it is another matter because
they cannot speak, remember?
Now, after seeing these pictures please do not attempt to use any
form of dye or colouring on your pets because the substances you use
could be toxic and harmful to them .Animals, though dumb, need to be
treated with dignity .
As a responsible pet owner you must always put the welfare of the
animal first. Whatever you choose to do should not harm your pets in any
way. Whether or not the animals like what is being done to them and how
healthy it is to do so is indeed a moot point but one cannot deny the
fact that some of the dying jobs done are really fantastic. Just take a
