S.H.M. Jayasekera who is in military service and a resident of
Pathigoda, Badalgama is suffering from acute renal disorder.
Consultant Nephrologist Dr. Anura Hewageegana of the Military
Hospital Nahahenpita recommended urgent "B" positive kidney transplant.
A father of two, Jayasekera is need of funds, in addition to the kidney.

K. Jayaratne Silva of 404C Weliwita Road, Kaduwela is suffering from
acute renal failure. Consultant Nephrologist of the National Institute
for Nephrology, Colombo Dr. Anura Hewageegana has recommended kidney
transplant to save his life. Anybody with A or B Blood category willing
to donate a kidney could kindly communicate with the members of the
family. As the patient finds it difficult to afford the medical bill he

Pulimood oration tomorrow
The annual Susan George Pulimood Memorial Oration of Visakha
Vidyalaya, Colombo will be held at 5.15 p.m. tomorrow at the Jeremias
Dias Hall of the school.
This year, the oration will be delivered by past student, Prof. Gita
Fernando, founder Professor of Pharmacology and Head of Pharmacology,
Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenapura,
Secretary Drugs Evaluation Sub-committee of the Ministry of Health and
Chairperson SLMA Drugs Committee.
The subject of the oration will be 'Marvels of Modern Medicine'.
Lecture on language and literature
A guest lecture on 'Many Languages, One Literature' by Indian writer,
publisher and Festival Director Namita Gokhale, will be held tomorrow at
11.00 am at the Department of Sinhala Auditorium, Faculty of Arts,
University of Colombo (entrance from Reid Avenue). It is organised by
the Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies, University of Colombo.
Exam to enlist PSIs
A written examination to enlist Probationary Sub Inspectors of Police
will be held at the Vivekananda Tamil Vidyalaya, Kotahena, Colombo 13
and at Al-Hidaya Muslim School, Colombo 10 on July 28 from 10.00 a.m. to
12.00 p.m., Police Spokesman SP, Ajith Rohana said.
He said admission cards for the examination have been already posted
to candidates. Applicants who have not received their admission cards

Sing-A-Long on July 28

The Seventh Sing-A-Long Programme organised by the Prince of Wales'
College Old Boys' Association will be held on July 28 at the Happy Shan
Hotel, Gorakana from 7 pm. An old boy of Prince of Wales and Managing
Director of Puwakaramba Agencies, Laksiri Peiris and Mrs. Peiris will be
the chief guests.
Literary discussion after book launch
A literary discussion Jathaka Kathawe Nuthanathwaya will be held
following the launch of Ven. Agalakada Sirisumana Thera's 'Bosath Katha
Pela Newatha Kiyawamu', tomorrow at 3.00 p.m. at the National Library
Services and Documentation Centre Colombo 7. The book is a collection of
his articles published in the Silumina. Ven. Prof. Bellanwila
Wimalarathana Nayaka Thera, Viharadhipathi of Bellanwila Raja Maha
Vihara and Chancellor, Sri Jayawardenapura University will preside.
