Boon for house builders
Kelsey Homes Ltd launched ‘Kelsey Build Plus’ to offer customers to
build homes on their own land.
A spokesman for the Company said ”today, most people experience
problems when building houses. These include the difficulty of obtaining
reliable contractors and professional advice with regard to suitable
designs and cost estimates. ‘Kelsey Build Plus’ enables them to overcome
these problems through a total solution that covers professional
advisory services, supervisory assistance and construction work.
The scheme targets middle and upmarket house builders who seek
quality.
“This is a one-stop-shop for those wanting to build their dream
home,” said Assistant Manager, Sales, Kelsey Homes, Shahim Shums.
“We have many customers who have land, but aren’t keen or simply
don’t have the time to be involved with the tedious aspects of building
a house”, he said.
Shums said that the solution has so far attracted a good response
from professionals, high net worth individuals and Sri Lankans living
abroad. Shums said that the ‘Build Plus’ team comprises in-house staff,
including experienced customer service executives and a panel of
professionals such as architects, quantity surveyors, draughtsmen and
engineers.
Through ‘Build Plus’, an average-sized house (with an area less than
2,000 sq.ft.) could be completed within a period of six months. Larger
houses take more time to be completed. Kelsey offers a structural
warranty of 10 years and a defect liability period of 12 months.
Architect, Ms. Sumudu Senevirathne said, “We offer four themes to our
customers. These themes – based on different architectural styles –
‘Compact and Stylish’, ‘Traditional but Modern’, ‘Rustic and Earthy’,
and ‘Creative Spaces’.”
Quantity Surveyor, Ms. Nishani Dissanayake said, “The rates charged
by the company per square foot were competitive, offering real value for
money.” She said that the cost is quoted on a fixed basis, so that until
construction is complete, there are no price escalations due to rising
costs of raw materials and labour. She said the products they use were
of superior quality.
