Shippers' Academy course on 'Port Tariffs and Services'

A certificate course on Port Tariffs and Port Services developed exclusively by the shippers' Academy Colombo is being conducted to educate maritime industry professionals at the Sri Lanka Foundation.

The Academy developed the course to give a understanding to port users, the various services provided by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and how the charges are derived for these services.

The course covers port tariffs, the calculation methods of various port services and online payments which are important functions that companies working with the SLPA should know.

The three-week course covers navigational services, cargo handling, terminal services, storage and rentals, value added logistics services, import, export, transshipment tariffs and conventional and container and automobile tariffs too. At the end of the course, an optional port tour will be organised for students to get a practical understanding.
