Munchee launches Apple Puff
Apple Puff was recently introduced to the market by Munchee. The
objective of launching Apple Puff to the biscuit market is to expand the
puff category by offering an exiteing product for consumers, said Group
Director and Head of Marketing and Sales of Ceylon Biscuits Limited,
Nandana Wickramage. He said that biscuit consumers in Sri Lanka
appreciate new products and that has been a factor behind the success of
Munchee.
In 2001, Munchee re-launched its Lemon Puff product by modifying and
improving all aspects of the product including taste, texture and
packaging. One notable feature of the re-launch was changing pack
graphics of traditional green and yellow combination to a predominantly
white colour pack. Combined with this and the superior taste and quality
helped Munchee to capture the leadership in the Lemon Puff category
which is 63 percent of the market share. This has been well-established
in market surveys conducted by the Neilsens, an independent market
research company.
Eight years ago, Munchee launched Chocolate Puff which contributed to
the expansion of the Puff category of the biscuit market. The launch
helped Munchee to gain an additional 27 percent of the market share in
the Puff category. The first sale of Munchee Apple Puff was done
recently at its factory where Deputy Chairman of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd,
Ramya Wickramasingha handed over the first consignment to Proprietor of
Sunil Weerakoon distributors, the Distributor for Munchee in HoranaSunil
Weerakoon.
