Salgado and Kavindu get Observer/Mobitel awards

Sajeewa Salgado of Thurstan College and Kavindu Ashan of Royal College, Panadura are the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketers of the Year.

Sajeewa Salgado edged out team-mate Ashan Wanigaratne in All-Island contest. Salgado finally obtained 78,002 votes and Wanigaratna received 77,304 votes. In third place was Sadeera Samarawickrama of St. Joseph College 74,901 votes.

Kavindu Ashan of Royal, Panadura won the Outstation Most Popular contest with 51,902 votes beating Anjelo Jayasinghe of Maris Stella, Negombo in close contest. Jayasinghe obtained 51,711 votes. In third place was won Ruwan Bandara of Vidyartha College, Kandy with 49,337 votes.
