SLAITO to work as a unified sector to promote tourism
"Our plan this year is primarily to work together with all industry
stakeholders in promoting Sri Lanka tourism and be heard as one voice
globally. It is more than essential at this time that we work as a
unified sector in all our promotional activities and carry the same
message to our partners across the globe," said SLAITO President, Mahen
Kariyawasan speaking at the 32nd Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka
Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) held recently at 'The
Sands' in Kalutara.
"Tourism has entered a new era where not only is the country
competing with destinations in the region, but we are catering to an
extremely tourism savvy traveller with diverse travel needs. Catering to
this industry requires a great deal of planning and preparation to be
the most sought after tourism destination in the world," he said.
The new committee of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour
Operators (SLAITO) consists of President, Mahen Kariyawasan, Vice
President, T. M. F. Packeer, Secretary, Devindre Senaratne, Treasurer,
Harith Perera, Immediate Past President, Nilmin Nanayakkara. Committee
members, Chandra Wickremasinghe, M. M. Imran, Michael Elias, Ravi
