Innings win for Joseph Vaz

Sri Lanka Schools under-19 World Cup cricketer and Joseph Vaz skipper Kasun Vidura scored an elegant unbeaten 117 runs which included fourteen hits to the ropes and one over helped Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa to beat S. de S. Jayasinghe Vidyalaya Dehiwala by an innings and 23 runs in their inter-school under-19 cricket match played at Dehiwala.

Janapriya Fernando too contributed 65 runs and Mahesh Peiris captured 4 for 41 for the homesters and in their first essay S. de S. Jayasinghe Vidyalaya collapsed for a paltry 93 with Nipun Deemantha claiming 5 for 30. Following on Vidyalians did much better to score 186 with Asantha Wijeratne scoring 69 runs.

Joseph Vaz: 302/6 (Kasun Vidura 117 n/o, Janapriya Fernando 65, Rukshan Shehan 27, Primash Obris 26, Ravindu Dilshan 23 n/o, Mahesh Peiris 4/1).

S.D.S. Jayasinghe Vidyalaya: 93 (Hashan Hewanayake 42, Deepankara Peiris 4/25, Nipun Deemantha 5/30 and 186 - Asantha Wijeratne 69, Hashan Hewanayake 43, Mahesh Peiris 27, Ravindu Dilshan 3/25, Deepankara Peiris 3/45, Shavindu Deemantha 2/45).
