Committee to discuss more powers to NPC
A committee to look into the possibility of
giving wider powers to the National Police Commission (NPC) is to be
appointed on the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa this week.
NPC Chairman Senaka Walgampaya PC said representatives from the
Attorney-General’s Department, Defence Ministry, Presidential
Secretariat, Treasury, Public Services Commission and the IGP’s
office will make deliberations and finalise a report to the
President within a month.
