SEC reaches milestone
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) commenced
its 25th anniversary celebrations last week amidst multi-religious
observances at its secretariat under the auspices of Chairman, Dr.
Nalaka Godahewa, Commission Members, Acting Director General, Prof.
Hareendra Dissabandara, Deputy Director General, Dhammika Perera,
Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange, Krishan Balendra and invitees
from the industry.
The SEC has lined-up several activities to mark its 25th anniversary
celebrations. The launch of a coffee table book on the SEC, a corporate
documentary in all three languages, 'Investment Day', an exhibition
comprising presentations and educational stalls with the participation
of all stakeholders, a live 18-week, one-hour television series and the
release of two books on investing in the capital market written in
Sinhala and English are some of them. These activities will be carried
out as part of SEC's initiative to impart financial literacy throughout
the country.
More than 600 students of the Capital Market Education and Training
section of the SEC who have successfully completed courses in
Certificate in Capital Markets, Registered Investment Advisor, Diploma
in Capital Markets and Certificate in Financial Journalism will receive
their awards at a ceremony in December 2012.
