Theatre workshop in Jaffna, a success
A seminar and three-day workshop to recognise the talents and
capabilities of those affected by the conflict and physically and
mentally handicapped persons was organised by the Thidora Theatre at the
Centre for Performing Arts, Jaffna recently.
Consel General of India in Jaffna Shri V. Mahalingam was the chief
guest at the event titled 'Northern Butterflies with Thidora'. The
workshop was a success and made a tremendous impact on drama therapy for
differently abled children.
Principal Scientist at the Department of Child Development and Family
Relations of Assam Agricultural University, India Dr.Juri Baruah who was
a guest lecturer of the event said this therapeutic intervention
directed by Thidora Theatre for differently abled children was
practically demonstrated in different sessions through role play, group
dynamics games and mime. Bringing parents and teachers of differently
abled children to the same platform is another strategy to deliver a
concerted effort to realise these children's needs and bring them to the
mainstream of society.
