Nimal and Gihan in the lead

Cricketer Nimal Wettimuny and Gihan Wickremasinghe are in the lead at the end of the first round of the 4th Oman Air Golf Classics 2012 organised by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and sponsored by the National Airline of Sultanate of Oman which teed off at the Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella off Kandy yesterday. The Championship resumes today at 7 a.m.

It turned out to be a lively day and the golf course was in its best possible condition and the golfers especially from the Middle Eastern countries enjoyed themselves on this challenging course on a bright and sunny day though there were slight showers late in the evening.

Gihan Wickremasingh with a net score of 40 is leading at the end of the first round. Dr. Amunugama too is in the running with a net score of 40 and is placed second on a court back on the last 9 holes.

But anything could happen today as some good scores were registered and they could climb up. The championship still open and both Gihan Wickremasinghe and Dr. Amunugama will have to display good form today if they are to stretch their lead.
