Ceylon Pencil Co. to set up R & D laboratory
Ceylon Pencil Co (Pvt) Ltd signed an MoU with the University of
Moratuwa recently to set up a research and development laboratory.
"The project is one of the first research and development
laboratories in Sri Lanka in the stationery industry," a spokesman for
the company said.
Chief Executive Officer, Atlas, Nirmal Madanayake and Vice
Chancellor, Prof. Ananda Jayawardene of the University of Moratuwa
signed the MoU.
The research and development laboratory to be set up in the
university will conduct research on many aspects including research on
new innovations, increasing the quality of existing products to add more
commercial value, work study on the production cycle to reduce cost and
increase quality, development of innovative production processes,
identifying office stationery requirements, energy efficiency and
conservation and adding market value to new products.
Director Operations, Ceylon Pencils, Viraj Jayasooriya said, "Atlas
is an organisation that changed the industry with many innovative
products in the stationery market. Its production facility meets every
requirement of the stationery industry."
