Bovattagala – a cave complex in the wild
It is late afternoon and we can see the
silhouette of trees with dead branches jutting out against a
cloudless sky. On the rock boulder, the orange rays of the sun are
reflected in the Kumana Wewa. There is a soft hush in the air.
Today is Palm Sunday:
Behold the King cometh!
Ride on, ride on, in majesty! Hark! all the
tribes Hosanna cry; O Saviour meek, pursue Thy road, With palms and
scattered garments strowed. Ride on, ride on, in majesty! Thy last
and fiercest strife is nigh; The Father, on His sapphire throne,
Awaits his own anointed Son.”
Time zones and jet-lagged passengers
Blessed are our forefathers who traversed on
mother earth on their two limbs which with time gave way to the
raft, next to the wheel and finally to the plane. Today, air travel
has shrunk the world. Man can now travel with the sun. The departure
time is on the dot. Arrival is at the exact expected time. But one's
wristwatch has to be reset in accordance with time denoted in the
clocks of the country of disembarkation.
