President congratulates Sri Lanka rugby team

President Mahinda Rajapaksa congratulated the Sri Lanka rugby team on its remarkable performance to secure the Asian Five Nations qualifying round tournament with three successive wins.

“You have made Sri Lanka proud. The Sri Lanka team has now proved that they are good enough to play with the Asian rugby giants. It is an honour to the country. I wish them well,” the President said in his congratulatory message.

President Rajapaksa, who has been a keen promoter of sport and a keen rugby fan, was delighted that the Sri Lanka team has qualified to play in the main tournament with the heavyweights in Asian rugby such as Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea.
