Nuwara Eliya gets ready for festive season

Hotels and guest houses in the Nuwara Eliya city are ready with their buildings, flower gardens and playgrounds for the forth coming April festivities.

The Victoria Park is being spruced by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council and the annual prize winning flower gardens of the Colonial Hotel, The British Club, the Grand Hotel and Hill Club are being planted with exotic varieties of flower plants in order to compete in the forth coming April annual flower competition.

The Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Mahinda Kumara Dodampage and the Festivity Committee members have requested residents and the business community to get ready for the forth coming Nuwara Eliya festive seasonal programs. A conference was held at the Municipal Council with Minister Navin Dissanayake to draw up the April seasonal activities, the conference centred around the proposed setting up of a cable car from the Nuwara Eliya city to the Single tree with American Agency assistance.

It was decided that a committee be set-up at the request of Minister Navin Dissanayake in order to finalise the proposal.
