Arosha – carrom champion

Arosha Wickremasinghe of Samudra Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Nugegoda won the under-19 trophy and the under-21 trophy with Pavani Yasoda, at the National Junior Carrom Tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Carrom Federation.

Arosha has won the under-15 and under-17 trophies thrice. The Sri Lanka carrom team which included Arosha secured second place of the ICF Tournament in Malaysia in 2011.

She was adjudged the fourth winner at the Masters’ Carrom Tournament of 2013. She ranks fifth in the Sri Lanka grading.


Century by Darusha

Darusha Indunil hit up an elegant 103 runs which included nine fours and one six and facing 147 balls and was associated a fourth wicket partnership of 94 runs with Lakshan de Silva 74 enabled Sebastianite Cricket Clun to declare at 306 for 9 in their Inter-Club Sara Trophyy Division I Cricket Tournaemnt match played at FTZ grounds at Katunayake. Suranjith Rajitha too contributed 37 runs. Ravindu Wijerathne was the most successful bowler for Old Dharmapalians with 6 for 95 and at the end of day-one, Palians were 11 for 0.

Sebs: 306 for 9 decl. (Tharuka Dushyantha 27, Lakshan de Silva 74, Danusha Indunil 103, Pubudu Ranaweera 23, Suranjith Rajitha 37, Ravindu Wijerathne 6 for 95).

Bold reply by Kalutara PCC

Kalutara P.C.C. were 104 for 6 at the end of day one in their Inter Club Division one Sara Trophy Tournament Cricket Match worked off at De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa.

Taking the first lease Moratuwa Sports Club were all out for 168 runs with Avishka Perera and Dilindu Fernando scoring 46 and 42 runs respectively. Ruchira Kavinda claimed 4 for 40 for the visitors.

Moratuwa SC: 168 (Avishka Perera 46, Dilindu Fernando 42, Indika Massalage 27, Ruchira Kavinda 4/40, Thenuka Dananjaya 3/41).

Old Moratu Vidyalians Sports Club were all out for 134 runs in reply to Narammala Sports Club score of 90 runs in their Inter-Club Division Two Donovan Andree Trophy cricket match worked off at Moratuwa. At the end of day one visitors were 30 for 2.

Police reeling at 27 for 3

Police Sports Club were 27 for 3 in reply to Leo Cricket Club score of 252 runs at the end of day one in their Inter-Club Division one Sara Trophy Tournament cricket match played at Negombo.

Batting first Leo made 252 runs with the top score came off the bat of Shehan Arundika who scored 76 runs while Malshan Fernando and Mohomed Gurukhan made 43 and unbeaten 47 respectively. Mahesh Priyadarshana took 4 for 61 for Police.

Thurstan-Isipatana Twenty20 today

The sixth Thurstan-Isipatana Twenty20 encounter for Priya Paranavithana Trophy, will be played today at the Thurstan Grounds from 2pm onwards.
