HR management vital to enhance productivity
Human Resource Management alone cannot solve national and global
labour problems said the opposing team at the HR Debate at the National
HR Conference 2013 at the Water's Edge last week.
They said that the necessity of unions cannot be replaced by proper
human resource management.
The opposing team said that human resource management has limitations
in being a mediator between the employer and employees. Unions can be
the voice of the employees.

resource management is the primary cause for many labour problems and
added that human resource management was vital to boost
employer-employee relations and enhance productivity.
President, Institute of Personnel Management (IPM), Air Vice Marshal
Rohitha Ranasinghe said that in the constantly evolving and challenging
global business environment Human Resource Management conferences play a
vital role.
He said that the conference on the theme 'In search of HR Excellence;
Thoughts, Tools, Teams' was a timely endeavour and an invaluable means
of learning for corporate heads, entrepreneurs, HR practitioners and
students.
"Many of today's high profile business leaders focus on practices and
processes that support collaboration, passion and employee engagement
within their businesses. Creating a capable and innovative workforce is
paramount to build a new generation of leaders," Ranasinghe said.
National HR Conference Chairman Shanaka Fernando said that the
conference will shed light on HR components such as leadership, employee
management, corporate culture, organisational design and change
management.
