Abans go for facility management

Abans Environmental Services (AES) have been involved in street cleaning and garbage disposal services in certain areas of Colombo, assisting the CMC to keep the city clean. But the services provided by AES extend beyond street cleaning and garbage disposal.

“Apart from the many diversified fields of activity the company is involved in, we are one of the leading facilities and management services provider in Sri Lanka,” a spokesman for the company said.

The Integrated Facility Management Services package provided by AES include Building Maintenance, House Keeping and Janitorial Services, Property Management, Security Management, Solid Waste Management and Pest Control..


Dell ranked number one

Dell topped the list as the number one PC vendor in Sri Lanka for the three-month period ending March 2013 as reported by International Data Corporation (IDC).

IDC also said Dell recorded significant sequential quarter-on-quarter growth with 29.2 percent share of the overall PC market in the country.

According to the same report, Dell also topped the list as the leading notebook vendor with a 32.7 percent market share. In the Desktop segment, Dell came in second with a market share of 25.2 percent.


Interocean Lubricants help fisher families

A CSR project of Interocean Lubricants took place last week in collaboration with the management of Beruwala and Panadura fisheries harbours.

Inter Ocean Lubricant Ltd is the local distributor of one of the world’s leading lubricant companies Sinopec.

The company made cash donations to 14 fisher families who lost their breadwinners, to re-start their livelihoods.

General Manager of Interocean Lubricants, Shiran Abeysinghe said, “As a responsible corporate citizen we carry out various CSR projects to uplift the living standards of our people. We always lend our hands to the affected."
 


Cantaloupe Aqua wins awards

Cantaloupe Aqua, a private resort and beach club in Thalpe, Habaraduwa recently received the Gold Circle Award from Agoda.com and the 2013 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.

AMW introduces Suzuki Alto 2013

Associated Motorways (Pvt) Limited (AMW) recently launched the new Suzuki Alto 2013 at an event in Colombo that attracted over 1,000 people.

AMW, the sole agents in Sri Lanka for Suzuki Alto for more than 20 years conducted the event at its showroom in Colombo 8, allowing the public to take a first-hand look at the vehicle.




 


SLCPI makes donation

The Sri Lanka Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industries (SLCPI) made a cash donation to the Polonnaruwa Buddhist Association for its activities including the construction of a pilgrims rest in Polonnaruwa. Here Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena accepts the donation from SLCPI President, Vish Govindasamy, on behalf of the organisation.

Several SLCPI officials were present. It was held at the Ministry of Health last week.

Central Industries opens new factory

Central Industries PLC, manufacturers of PVC pipes and fittings, recently inaugurated the first phase of its new factory complex at Yakkala.

Chairman, Central Industries, S V Wanigasekera, Directors of the company and the members of the staff were present at the ceremony.

Covering a land area of nine acres, the factory complex will be built in three phases. The new complex will help increase the production capacity of the existing factory complex at Kerawalapitiya.

 


Workshops on Hotel Management

Two-day training workshops on 'Innovative Hotel Management for the Future' organised by consultancy company, Rainbow Resources Sri Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, will be held in Colombo and Kandy. In Colombo it will be held at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management on June 28 and 29 and in Kandy at the Randholee Luxury Resort on July 1 and 2.

The program will discuss lessons learned from the past, sustainability, marketing, quality, innovation and human resource development. It will also focus on challenges including crisis management and the way forward for the future.

The workshops will be conducted by Canada-based, international hotelier, Dr. Chandana (Chandi) Jayawardena.

 


‘Singer Kitchen Raththaran’ promo

The ‘Singer Kitchen Raththaran’ promotion which commended in May will end on July 31. Under this promotion gold sovereigns and modern kitchen appliances could be won.

Products on offer for this promotion includes all types of kitchen appliances such as table-top gas cookers, mixer grinders, juicers, blenders, sandwich toasters, waffle makers, pop-up toasters, rice cookers, electric ovens, microwaves to the Kenwood Chef. “You get one coupon for a jug kettle and more than 60 coupons for a Kenwood Chef,” a spokesman for the company said.


 


Sampath Bank ATMs on Expressway

Sampath Bank commissioned two ATMs at the Welipenna service areas A and B on the Southern Expressway recently. They were opened by Assistant General Manager, Administration, Amanda Abeyweera.

Manager, Premises, Kithsiri Adikaram and Manager, Logistics, Janaka Jayawickrama were present. The ATMs will serve thousands of people using the road network every day.

The two ATMs have been installed facing each other in independent locations (off-site ATMs). Maintained by the Road Development Authority, the Southern Expressway is Sri Lanka's first E Class highway.
