Commonwealth Youth Forum from Nov 10 - 14

Sri Lanka will hold the Commonwealth Youth Forum in Hambantota from November 10 - 14. It will coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which would take place in the island from November 15 - 17.

Around 500 local and foreign representatives from 54 Commonwealth countries are expected to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the event.

Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma's proposal to proceed with the program received Cabinet approval. External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris has proposed appointing three committees for policy decision making at ministerial level to oversee the arrangements that are under way to host the CHOGM in Colombo and the Cabinet has approved his proposal.

Senior Minister for International Monetary Cooperation Dr. Sarath Amunugama will chair the Committee on the Commonwealth Business Forum while Minister Alahapperuma will be the Chairman of the Commonwealth Youth Forum. Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella will lead the Committee on Media and Public Relations.
