Commonwealth Youth Forum from Nov 10 - 14
Sri Lanka will hold the Commonwealth Youth Forum in Hambantota from
November 10 - 14. It will coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of
Government Meeting (CHOGM), which would take place in the island from
November 15 - 17.
Around 500 local and foreign representatives from 54 Commonwealth
countries are expected to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the
event.
Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma's
proposal to proceed with the program received Cabinet approval. External
Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris has proposed appointing three
committees for policy decision making at ministerial level to oversee
the arrangements that are under way to host the CHOGM in Colombo and the
Cabinet has approved his proposal.
Senior Minister for International Monetary Cooperation Dr. Sarath
Amunugama will chair the Committee on the Commonwealth Business Forum
while Minister Alahapperuma will be the Chairman of the Commonwealth
Youth Forum. Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella
will lead the Committee on Media and Public Relations. |
