Cultured educationists, the need of the hour - Prof. A.C.L. Ameer
By M.A Phakurdeen, Addalaichenai Gr. Cor.
Prof. A.C.L. Ameer Ali, an Academic of Murdoch University, Western
Australia said "University should not merely produce Graduates for the
name shake, but should bring up cultured educationists which our country
needs at present at the ceremonial launch of a book titled "Poorana
Vaalvu" (Complete life) authored by his father Poet Abdul Cader Lebbe at
the Arts theatre of the Faculty of Arts and Culture in the Oluvil Campus
recently.
The ceremony was organised by the Language Department of the Faculty
of Arts Culture and presided over by the Head of the Department Dr.
Ramees Abdullah.
The first copy of "Poorana Vaalvu" was released to the Registrar H.
Abdul Saththar by Former Head of the Language Department of the
University of Peradeniya Prof. M.S.M. Anas followed by other special
invitees receiving their copies.
Continuing Prof. Ameer Ali said that at present the students in the
Universities are very much concerned only about their Certificates and
they are prepared to spend any amount of money for certificates and
lease bothered about their education and developing their knowledge.
This state of mind should be changed and the students must take the
maximum benefit from the Universities. They should study and engage in
research works on contemporary issues utilising the available resources
to face the challenges of the present society. In this context he said
he would extend all his support to the University if they come forward
to establish a library of Research works where he would present his Late
father's contributions which are in written forms and the booklets.
Undergraduates also must take greater interest in this endeavour and
bring some revolutionary changes in their educational systems rather
than concentrating traditional old systems. I am now happy not note that
South Eastern University has been going forward to achieve this goal
moulding the students in such a way to face the challenges of the
contemporary issues.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor As-Sheikh A.B.M. Aliyar delivered a
lengthy speech on the Author Late Poet Abdul Cader Lebbe touching on his
life back ground and how his contributions made an effect to the
society. |
