Isipathana in 20-17 win over Trinity

Isipathana College, Colombo, stunned Trinity College with 20 points (1 goal, 2 tries, 1 penalty) to 17 (2 goals, 1 penalty) win over the more fancied Trinity College in their Schools Under-20 Division I Segment 'A' Rugby Tournament match played at the Trinity Rugby Stadium, Pallekele yesterday. At 'lemons' Trinity College led 7-5.

It was a fine performance by the Pathanas to beat the Lions in their own den. The Trinitians will have to blame themselves for this as they did not play to their true potential and forwards were not binding well.

Isipathana opened scoring in the 14th minute through their winger Ujitha Tharantha who scored far left after the forwards had done the spade work. Fly half Hirantha Perera failed to add the extra points.

Isipathana maintained this 5-0 had till almost by the short whistle.

In the mid field saw winger Lochana Girihagama sprinting towards the right corner flag and looped to touch down near the post. Tharindu Ratwatte added the extra points. Trinity 17-20.

Towards the end, the Lions were awarded a penalty and they opted to kick to touch and their attempt was futile
