Promoting SMEs, NBEA's aim
Promoting small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) is the primary
objective of the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA), said
National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), President, Sunil
Wijesinghe at the launch of NBEA.
He said that winners of the NBEA should be exemplary models for
others to emulate. Many top corporates have excelled in their
performance and have reached the pinnacle of success. The chamber will
identify and promote leadership which is the primary criteria of this
year's awards.
“Many corporates excelled in their performance but failed to win
awards as they could not present their achievements in a credible
manner,” Wijesinghe said.
The NBEA evaluates the overall performance of companies and rewards
them for their achievements. The NBEA is being held for the 10th
consecutive time this year.
Excellence in financial results, corporate governance,
capacity-building, performance management, local and global market reach
and corporate, social and environmental sustainability are the main
criteria of the awards scheme.
Chief of the panel of judges Prof. Uditha Liyanage said, “Are
corporates successful and are they excellent will be the questions that
will loom large at this year's awards”. Doing well will not be
sufficient but doing it right is what is needed. The NBEA will evaluate
corporates for their performance and conformance, he said.
The NBEA ceremony will be held on November 27 at the Hilton.
