DFCC bagged three awards at the Association of Development Financing
Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) Awards Ceremony in
Mongolia recently.
ADFIAP Awards are contested by 131 member institutions in 45
countries. DFCC Bank, a founder member of the Association has been
winning awards every year for its outstanding project work. This year
DFCC received awards for 'The Most Outstanding Local Economic
Development Project', 'The Best Annual Report' and 'The Best Website'.
The award for 'The Most Outstanding Local Economic Development
Project' was won for DFCC's role in supporting the Annai sea food
processing factory; a state-of-the-art crab and cuttlefish processing
plant in the Jaffna district, targeting the export market.
"This project was one of the first to capitalise on the peace
dividend. The Bank guided and financed the venture with a special loan
scheme, which has provided direct employment to over 300 people and
contributed to the livelihood of those working in 16 collection centres
and the local fishermen who supply the factory," a spokesman for the
bank said.
DFCC Bank's annual report for 2011/12, which was in line with the
framework for Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI), that requires
reporting on economic, social and environmental aspects, won the Best
Annual Report Award. |
