Entertainment in the modern world
As a result of globalisation the world has become more developed.
People the world over have joined the rat race. They led busy lives from
childhood to adulthood.
In the past small children in our country played hide and seek and
bear family during their leisure time.

With the development of technology they have become addicted to
play-station and computer games. Scientifically it is not good for their
health. Parents should not let them get use to these technology for
their convenience.
Teenagers in the future will find many ways of entertainment.
By chatting on skype, roaming on facebook and watching various music
videos they entertain themselves.
Children should read books, newspapers, watch TV news and gain more
knowledge. They must not waste their valuable time misusing the new
technological devices.
Forgetting the teenagers for a while and paying attention towards the
elders, we can see many have their entertainment in a different way.
They earn money and patronise clubs, casinos and get addicted to
alcohol and waste the money they have earned.
In the past there were no casinos. As the world develops, people find
new ways of entertainment.
It is our duty to use technology wisely for our betterment.

A sad day in my life
It was a rainy day. My mother called me and I went to see what had
happened. I was surprised to see that my pet ‘Arno’ had died.

environment is water. Fish are the most common aquatic animals. But
there are many other aquatic animals such as water leech, crabs, prawns,

Madagascar and Bangladesh. It also has a tall and straight stem such as
some other palm trees.
Salty soil and sunshine are favourable for its growth. It grows well
in the coastal areas. It is a very useful tree for us. No part of it is
thrown away as useless.
Coconut leaves are woven and used for sheltering houses. The young
and tender leaves are called Gokkola which is used for decorating
purposes.
The most useful part of the coconut tree is the nut. It is covered
with a thick husk and hairy shell.
Coconut is mainly used for cooking purposes and coconut oil. The
young coconuts are called Kurumba. King coconuts or Thambili is very
tasty and sweet.
Coconut husks are used in the coir industry to make things such as
ropes, doormats, brooms and mattresses.
We get very strong timber from the stem. Most parts of the coconut
tree can be used as firewood.

My aim in life

Everybody should have an aim in life. An aimless person cannot enjoy
success. The earlier the aim is decided the better it is.
Different people have diverse aims in life. Some people want to
become famous while others want to be wealthy.
A friend of mine wants to be a film star. I want to be a doctor.
There are a good number of doctors. They are in great demand.
I want to work hard to achieve my aim. I want to be a good and
respected doctor. I would not work to earn money. I will give free
medicine to the poor and the needy whenever possible.
I pray to God that my aim will be fulfilled.

The Blue Planet
Do
you know what a blue planet is? It is the only planet with life. It is
our planet Earth. We call it the blue planet because it is covered with
oceans, seas, rivers, valley, streams, waterfalls and vegetation.
Earth is the most beautiful planet in the solar system. Seventy-one
percent of the surface is covered by water. Twenty-nine percent of the
earth surface consists of land area.
Therefore, the earth has four spheres. They are Atmosphere,
Biosphere, Lithosphere and Hydrosphere. The atmosphere consists of
various gases and water particles. Biosphere is the layer in which life
exists and various processes are constantly active. Lithosphere consists
of land area and Hydrosphere has 71 percent water.
The earth has two movements such as rotation and revolution. As a
result of these movements variation of seasons such as winter, autumn,
spring and summer occur. The unique planet in the solar system is the
earth. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the environment
which supports life.
