Engineering Excellence Awards in September

The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) is ready for the
fourth consecutive Engineering Excellence Awards ceremony at the
Cinnamon Grand on September 24. Nominations will be entertained till
July 15. The application forms could be downloaded from the IESL
website.
The annual Engineering Awards hosted by IESL encourages and
felicitates excellence in the science and the practice of engineering by
rewarding the best and the finest of its members, individuals,
organisations and companies in Sri Lanka for their outstanding
accomplishments and achievements related to engineering.
The IESL launched its Engineering Excellence Awards for the first
time in 2008 as a low key event to encourage engineers working in the
Government and private sector and to develop the engineering profession
in the country.
"The IESL is the only organisation that can award Chartered Engineer
status to engineers in Sri Lanka. Its membership consists of more than
6,000 chartered engineers practising various engineering disciplines
throughout the country.
They hold positions from Engineer to CEO in almost all engineering
organisations in Sri Lanka," a spokesman for IESL said.
Infrastructure development being the vanguard of the country's
development drive, engineers are in the forefront of laying the
foundations on which the country's economic development has to be built,
said President, IESL, Eng. Tilak de Silva.
As engineers are the backbone of infrastructure development, the
Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka is committed to uplifting the
standard of engineering profession in the country. The IESL undertakes
various activities for the qualitative improvement of engineers in
various disciplines with the Engineering Excellence Awards being one of
them, President-elect, Eng. Shavindranath Fernando said. |
